Levi August Compton

Hello Friends and Family,

It has been almost five weeks since we last updated you on our adventure in adoption.  In our last update, we let everyone know that our prayers had been answered and we had just brought home a precious baby boy.  Well, here we are, 5 weeks later, and we’re doing GREAT!!  Although, the first week, we had to keep telling ourselves he was ours and we didn’t have to give him back.  Oh, and if you couldn’t tell from the title of the post, we can now share with you his name: Levi August Compton.  It feels great to tell you his name.

We took him home on 2/14 and he’s done nothing but grow since.  At his first doctor’s visit, the pediatrician told us that he was perfectly healthy and we were, of course, absolutely relieved.  He was back at his birth weight within a week and only waking up once at night.  So far, he’s spoiled us more than we’ve spoiled him (and we’ve spoiled him a lot).  He is now over 9 lbs and eating like a champ!

We have had several family members and friends come by to love on him and we are reminded every time how blessed we are to have such love and support surrounding us at all times.  We can’t wait to share the pictures we’ve been taking of Levi with all his grandparents, aunts, uncles, fur siblings and friends.  Until then, this little teaser will have to suffice:

I know exactly what you’re thinking: THAT HAIR!!  He was born with more hair than his Daddy (which his uncles definitely point out as much as they can).  He is the most handsome little boy in the world, all biases aside, of course. 😊

All in all, we are on cloud nine being able to call this little boy our son.  He is the answered prayer we had faith would come to us and we thank everyone for their prayers that brought him home.  God is great!

Love Always,

Mike, LB and Baby Levi

OK, FOR REALS THIS TIME!

Hello Friends and Family,

Wow, you say, another post so soon? They must have something important to tell us!  Well, if that’s what you were thinking, you are 100% correct!

WE HAVE A BABY BOY!

We received a call at 8:15pm on Monday, 2/13, regarding a birthmother opportunity that was last minute.  We found out that the baby had been born on 2/12 and was completely healthy.  They needed a decision soon, so we told them it was ok to show our profile book.  They said, “We’re glad you said yes, because we’ve already shown your profile book and they chose you!”.  Our jaws dropped and we were in awe.  We couldn’t believe what we were hearing, so we asked them to repeat it. “They picked you and we would like you to come pick up your son tomorrow (2/14) at 11:30 AM”.

That’s when it hit us and we were in crazy mode.  We made a trip to the store for necessities we didn’t already have and got the house ready to take home our precious baby boy.  We got to the hospital, met the birth parents (who were very sweet and kind people), signed paperwork, met our son and were finally discharged around 4:00pm.  Since then we haven’t been able to keep our eyes off him.

We want to thank everyone that has been there for us throughout this journey, everyone who has supported us through prayer and financially to make it possible to bring home this little bundle of joy.  It is by the grace of God we are surrounded by such loving family and friends and we thank Him every day for His blessings.  As a note, we are not allowed to post pictures or his name online until the finalization in 6 months.

Before we received the call on Monday, we reminded each other that our first date was on Valentine’s Day 11 years ago.  Yesterday, we were presented with the absolute best Anniversary/Valentine’s Day gift ever.  GOD IS GREAT!

Baby L was born on Sunday, 2/12, at 8:47AM, 7 lbs 4.4 oz, 19 ¾” long.  Perfect in every way.

Love Always,

Mike, LB and Baby L

Title Goes Here

Hello Friends and Family,

We hope everyone has had a good start to the new year.  If you remember our last post, we had shared the news that we had been chosen by a birthmom and were waiting for her to have the baby.  We were expecting to take him home after the first of the year.  The due date ended up being later than expected and she didn’t have the baby until January 7th.  On January 9th, the birthmom decided to make a parenting plan.  We were sad, but know that means God just has a different baby in mind for us.

We had our agency put our names back in the adopting parent’s pool right away.  Since then, we’ve had one more opportunity come up to show our profile book.  We were not chosen for that one, so we are back to waiting.

We apologize for not sharing this news with everyone sooner.  Like I said in the last post, definitely not professional bloggers here.  We just ask that everyone continues to pray.  We know that God has a baby planned for us and He will answer those prayers in His time.  Not an easy idea to grasp, but that’s where faith comes in.  Hopefully we’ll have good news for everyone soon.

Love Always,

Mike and LB
